Any organisations that are bidding for APMS (Alternative Provider of Medical Services) contracts or SPMS (Specialist Personal Medical Services) contracts must read Technical Newsletter 6/2007, and then contact Ross Mathieson (RMathies@nhspa.gov.uk) at the NHS Pensions Division for further guidance in respect of pensions.
This also applies to organisations that are already Scheme Employing Authorities such as Out of Hours Providers, GP Practices, etc.
APMS and SPMS contractors that qualify as NHS Pension Scheme Employing Authorities must offer Scheme membership to their GPs (Practitioners) and non-GP (Practice Staff) employees on a similar basis that is available to GPs and Practice Staff in GP Practices.
Any APMS, SPMS, GMS, or PMS organisation that is set up as a LLP (Limited Liability Partnership) would not qualify as Scheme Employing Authority.
