The Information Centre for Health and Social Care have published the Prescription Cost Analysis (PCA) for 2008 and a new service to allow Primary Care Trust Prescribing Data to be viewed on their website.
The information used by the Information Centre for Health and Social Care has been sourced from the NHS Prescription Services. PCA data is based on prescriptions dispensed in the community in England only, this may include prescriptions which have been prescribed in one of the devolved administrations. It also includes dental and hospital prescriptions. Primary Care Trust Prescribing Data is based on prescriptions prescribed by doctors and supplementary prescribers in England but may have been dispensed outside England. It also does not included prescriptions prescribed by dentists and hospitals.
