Guidance on data requirements for the annual violence against staff collection exercise


This document clarifies the requirement on health bodies and those providing services under the NHS Standard Contract to provide an accurate year-end figure for the number of physical assaults against staff in their organisation. It also explains the stages of the data collection process and how health bodies can prepare to comply with its requirements, as well as clarifying the terminology and counting rules used in the data collection: this should assist providers and commissioners of NHS services in ensuring continued accuracy in the classification and counting of assaults.
