A broad timetable of when it is anticipated the main Pension Choice Exercise will run for eligible members.
Your NHS Pension Choice - Information leaflet - This leaflet provides members with initial information about the Choice Exercise. All NHS employees will receive a copy from their employer with their May 2009 payslip.
Members Guide - SD Guide - This new booklet is for all members of the NHS Pension Scheme. It covers most topics including the benefits you will receive when you retire, survivor benefits, additional pension and advice if you are leaving the scheme. It replaces the following booklets: SDNG, SDK, SDAVC, SDER, SDGP, SDF and the old version of the booklet. The new booklet will answer most of your questions about the NHS Pension Scheme, including benefits, when you can retire, the arrangements for spouse and partners' pensions, and so on.
Scheme Rules and Benefits - This link takes you to a page on the main NHS Pensions website which sets out the respective rules and benefits for the 1995 and 2008 Sections of the NHS Pension Scheme.
Your NHS Pension Choice Guide - This guide provides you with additional information about Your NHS Pension Choice and should be used in conjunction with Your NHS Pension Choice Statement and the DVD.
Your NHS Pension Choice Guide for Practitoners -This guide is for if you are a practitioner member of the NHS Pension Scheme, or you have had any previous membership as a practitioner.
Your NHS Pension Choice Video - This video explains what the Choice Exercise is and outlines the key considerations that eligible members should take into account when making their individual choice. A DVD of this footage will be provided in each individual NHS Pension Choice pack.
Your NHS Pension Choice Statement - This is a sample personalised comparison statement of the benefits you could receive from the NHS Pension Scheme 1995 Section and 2008 Section.
Your NHS Pensions Choice Examples - These are the three example statements of benefits and copies of the decision forms. They show a comparison of benefits between 1995 Section and 2008 Section for Officers, Special Class Members and Practitioners.
2008 Section Late Retirement Factors - These tables show the factors by which your pension is increased if you retire late from the 2008 Section (i.e. post 65 years of age)
