Prescribing Review

Prescribing review is produced for general practitioners and for readers with an interest in patterns and trends of prescribing.  It provides a succinct review of prescribing in a particular therapeutic area. These therapeutic areas are usually one of the main British National Formulary (BNF) chapters or part of a chapter. The following chapters are routinely covered:

  • Antibiotics
  • Cardiovascular
  • Central Nervous System
  • Endocrine
  • Gastrointestinal
  • Musculoskeletal & joint
  • Respiratory

Other therapeutic areas have also been covered from time to time e.g. wound management products and skin.

Please note the following amendment to "April - June 2009 Antipsychotic drugs"  - Paragraph 3, sentence 2 under the title "Prescribing Data" should read "Oral  risperidone is the only antipsychotic licensed for the short term treatment (up to 6 weeks) of dementia-related behavioural disturbances......."
