A review of Practice Learning Opportunity (PLO) funding, was recently undertaken by the Department of Health. As as result of that review, a total PLO contribution of £1,725 will be payable for the duration of the course, regardless of the students' study pattern.
This means that, from the 2009-2010 academic year, there will be an increased annual PLO contribution included in the Basic Grant element of the Social Work Bursary for postgraduate students. The increase will also be paid retrospectively for postgraduate students receiving the Basic Grant element of the bursary in the 2008-2009 academic year.
We are currently calculating the payments to be made to eligible students. We aim to make all payments by the end of March 2009. Eligible students will be notified by letter by the end of March 2009.
