Amendment to the NHS Community Pharmacist Consultation Service (CPCS) and Part XVI Notes on Charges

The following is an announcement on behalf of DHSC:

Following the publication of Amended Directions for the CPCS (Directions 7BA and 7BB) on the 28 August, the determination for the Community Pharmacist Consultation Advanced Service (CPCS) has been updated.

The updated determination includes information on submitting claims for costs associated with initial local engagement in preparation for delivering the GP referral pathway of the CPCS. The necessary engagement activity must be undertaken by 31 March 2021.

The updated Drug Tariff Part VIC CPCS determination (PDF: 80 KB) applies from 1 November and will be included in Part VIC of the Drug Tariff from December.

The updated Drug Tariff Part XVI determination (PDF: 19KB) also includes information about obtaining signatures on prescription forms where a real time exemption check has taken place and about a temporary suspension of the need for patients to sign prescriptions as a measure to help limit the spread of COVID-19.

The updated determination applies from 1 November and will be included in Part XVI of the Drug Tariff from December.
