August Drug Tariff: COVID-19 - Essential and advanced delivery service

The following is an announcement on behalf of DHSC:

Pharmacy contractors should note that the essential pharmaceutical service – ensuring home delivery during the COVID-19 outbreak and the Community Pharmacy Home Delivery Service during the COVID-19 outbreak Advance Service will continue until 31 August 2020. However, only shielded patients living in the postcode areas as announced by NHS England and Improvement (in the form of a letter sent to all pharmacy contractors) will be eligible for both services.

Pharmacy contractors should note that payment for the essential pharmaceutical service – ensuring home delivery during the COVID-19 outbreak is limited only to pharmacy contractors who are located within the postcode areas as announced by NHS England and Improvement (however, all pharmacy contractors must comply with the essential service if they receive a prescription for an eligible patient). Any pharmacy who chooses to provide the Advance service and provides a delivery for a shielded patient living in the relevant area can claim for the delivery.
