Dental providers give information to the NHSBSA about treatment given to their patients by completing the FP17 claim submission.
Providers are regularly invited to support our assurance role by providing more information and evidence for these claims. This includes taking part in self-assessment.
Providers co-operation with us enables us to make sure that available advice and guidance is kept up to date. It also allows us to give assurance about the quality and value for money of NHS dental treatment.
Ask Us contains guidance about submitting claims specifically relating to Band 3 treatment/items.
Band 3 inlay claiming
The NHSBSA carried out an analysis of FP17 submissions relating to Band 3 inlay treatment delivered in the 2017/18 financial year and identified an unusual distribution of inlay claiming nationally.
We discovered that a number of contracts in England are submitting high numbers of these claims compared to the national average.
If you are a provider we encourage you to monitor your Band 3 inlay rates and take appropriate steps to manage them. If you’re concerned your rate differs from the national average, see your quarterly report by logging into Compass.
If your rate is particularly high or low view our inlay claiming guidance on AskUs.
