The essential pharmaceutical service – ensuring home delivery during the COVID-19 outbreak and the Community Pharmacy Home Delivery Service during the COVID-19 outbreak Advance Service

Pharmacy contractors should note that payment for the essential pharmaceutical service – ensuring home delivery during the COVID-19 outbreak will be based on the number of days for which they are required to ensure prescription items can be delivered to eligible patients and is limited only to pharmacy contractors who are located within the postcode areas as announced by NHS England and NHS Improvement (however, all pharmacy contractors must comply with the essential service if they receive a prescription for an eligible patient).

Any pharmacy, which chooses to provide the advance service and provides a delivery for a shielded patient living in the relevant area, can claim for the delivery, as long as, it is within the time period specified in the announcement(s) made by NHS England and NHS Improvement.

Pharmacy contractors should note that the changes to the determination are not reflected in the published October 2020 Drug Tariff.
