Nursery Milk

The Nursery Milk Scheme provides 1/3 pint (189ml) of milk per day to children under the age of five who attend child minders or private and local authority nurseries for at least two hours a day.  Babies under the age of one receive their milk as infant formula.

This statutory scheme has run since 1948 and is governed by The Welfare Food Regulations 1996.  It is a Great Britain wide scheme, though Scotland and Wales pay for milk consumed within their countries.
