Does the first or next year of your course start in January – October 2017? Check out the tables on either our New Students and Continuing Students web pages for when you can make your NHS Bursary application to us and what your application window deadline is. Please remember that until you make your application through BOSS (Bursary Online Support System) and we receive all of your supporting evidence, we cannot begin to assess your entitlement.
Please don’t apply before the start of your application window as your course details may not be available in BOSS until then, which means we cannot accurately assess your entitlement. Meeting your application window deadline (and having your application approved) guarantees you will have continuous payments going into your next academic year (continuing students) or your payments will be set up ready for the start of your first year of NHS Bursary funding (new students).
New students (non medical/dental only) receive a double bursary payment in the first month (and the next payment is in month 3) which will be made within 10 working days of your university confirming to us that you have started your course and physically attended your first day.
All continuing students will be sent a letter to their email address that is registered in their BOSS account letting them know when they can reapply, so please ensure your contact details in BOSS are up to date and your email account is set to allow attachments to go to your inbox.
Important: If you’re a new student who is unsure if you can apply for an NHS Bursary on or after 1 August 2017, please read our advice about this.
