Crime awareness toolkit

In our crime awareness toolkit you can find a range of resources to help you raise awareness of crime against the NHS.

The resources are primarily designed to support crime awareness initiatives carried out in NHS health bodies by Local Counter Fraud Specialists (LCFSs) and Local Security Management Specialists (LSMSs). However, they are also available to other staff in the NHS and to interested members of the public.

Many items are available to order in hard copy free of charge, however please note that priority will be given to orders from LCFSs and LSMSs.

How to order

To order hard copies any of the items, please click on the ‘Order’ links below the item you want. This will take you to the Department of Health (DH) orderline website; there you can view NHS Protect’s awareness materials by clicking on the NHS Protect links under ‘Campaign search’ on the right hand side of the page.

To place an order you will have to register on the website (registration is free of charge), or log in if you are already a registered user. You can order several items at a time by adding them to your basket. If you have any queries, please contact us at

NHS Fraud and Corruption Reporting Line

The materials in this section were developed in partnership with Crimestoppers, who provide the NHS Fraud and Corruption Reporting Line for NHS Protect and the Department of Health. This free, 24-hour phone line can be used to report suspected fraud, bribery or corruption affecting the Department of Health and its arm’s-length bodies as well as the NHS. Please see the Report NHS fraud page for more details.

Each factsheet provides a case example of the type of fraud covered, advice on how to prevent it and guidance on how to report suspicions of fraud in the NHS.
