Who cannot apply for ill health retirement 

If a member has already reached their normal pension age, they cannot apply for ill health retirement. However, if their life expectancy is less than 12 months, they can choose to receive their retirement benefits as a one-off lump sum. 

They'll need to complete the Application to commute age retirement benefits on grounds of serious ill-health (AW341A) (PDF: 156KB)
