Travel and Dual Accommodation Expenses (TDAE) will reimburse excess costs incurred when undertaking practical training on placements.
We have produced a handy guide to help you when completing your TDAE application form:
When can I submit a TDAE claim?
You'll need to submit your form within nine months of the last date of the placement period you are claiming for.
Do not forget to attach your student coversheet claim form as this helps us allocate the form and any evidence to your account.
If this is your first application for any element of LSF, you'll need to send us a copy of your student finance letter as evidence you're in receipt of funding. We are not able to return this letter.
Once we have received your application and all relevant evidence we will process your application within 25 working days.
This document explains the process for claiming TDAE:
TDAE cancelled accommodation costs due to coronavirus
If your practice placement is cancelled and you’re unable to claim a refund from the accommodation provider for advance payments you’ve made, you may be able to claim through the Learning Support Fund (LSF).
If your placement is overseas, you may also be able to claim for visa, vaccination and medical insurance costs.
Your claim should be endorsed by your university.
You should submit your claim form as normal, along with:
- the accommodation provider’s cancellation policy
- receipts for the accommodation advance payments you’ve made
- a covering letter from your university with the date the placement was cancelled
Claims will be looked at on a case by case basis.
