A Hormone Replacement Therapy Prescription Prepayment Certificate (HRT PPC) covers the cost of certain HRT medicines. Your GP may prescribe you other medicines that are not covered by an HRT PPC.
Check that the medicine you need is covered before you buy an HRT PPC.
The medicines are listed A to Z by the product name. This is the brand name the manufacturer gives their medicine.
Generic versions of these medicines are also covered if the generic drug name shows on the prescription. The generic drug name is usually the name of the active ingredient in the medicine.
You can find the name of your medicine on the prescription or the medicine packaging.
If the medicine you need is not listed here, check with your GP or pharmacist before buying an HRT PPC.

This list is subject to change and was last updated on 10 March 2026. This change clarifies that Premarin and Premique Low Dose are no longer branded medicines and are now available as generic medicines. Remaining stocks of Premarin and Premique Low Dose can still be supplied and remain eligible for the HRT PPC.
Why some HRT medicines are not listed
HRT PPCs only cover HRT medicines that are also licensed to treat the menopause in the UK.
If your HRT medicine is covered but you take it for reasons other than the menopause, you can still use an HRT PPC.
