Medicines covered by the HRT PPC

HRT PPCs cover certain HRT medicines. Your GP may prescribe you other HRT medicines that are not covered by an HRT PPC.

It's important to check that the medicine you need is covered before buying an HRT PPC.

The medicines are listed A to Z by the product name. You can usually find the product name on your prescription. If your prescription shows the ingredient rather than the product name, check the medicine packaging.

If the medicine you need is not listed here, check with your GP or pharmacist before purchasing an HRT PPC.

For pharmacists, more information on the medicines covered is available in the Drug Tariff Part XVI “Notes on Charges”.

Why some HRT medicines are not listed

HRT PPCs only cover HRT medicines that are also licensed to treat the menopause in the UK.

If your HRT medicine is covered but you take it for reasons other than the menopause, you can still use an HRT PPC.
