Following the announcement of the planned expansion of the NHS Community Pharmacy Smoking Cessation Service to include two new patient group directions for Varenicline and Cytisinicline, the service specification was updated in May 2026. Version 3.2 of the service specification is now available, including a document that summarises the planned updates.
As communicated previously, NHS England will publish these documents in their final versions in due course, and will indicate when contractors should start using these updated documents.
