Accessibility statement for Manage Your Service Optometry

This accessibility statement applies to the Manage Your Service Optometry website.

This website is run by NHS Business Services Authority. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent version of VoiceOver)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible, as:

  • it may not be possible to navigate the website using speech recognition software
  • the login pages do not currently meet AA standards meaning they are not fully accessible to screen reader users

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

NHS Business Services Authority is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

It may not be possible to navigate the website using speech recognition software. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 4.1 (Compatible).

Some linked images on the authentication screens do not have alternative text. This does fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.1 (Non Text Content).

Some controls and elements on the authentication screens do not have associated or corresponding labels. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.4.6 (Headings and Labels) and 3.3.2 (Labels or Instructions).

Some elements on the authentication screens have incorrect tab indexing meaning keyboard navigation could be affected. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.4.3 (Focus Order).

We plan to fix these accessibility issues by March 2022. When we publish new content, we will make sure it meets accessibility standards.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

We’re committed to making sure this website is compliant to WCAG 2.1 ‘AA’ standard.

Our accessibility compliance statement will be reviewed every 6 months. Every new released website will be designed, built and tested to meet ‘AA’ standards by default.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 19 May 2021. It was last reviewed on 30 September 2021.

This website was last tested on 19 May 2021. The test was carried out by the NHSBSA test team.

We tested all of the website screens to meet ‘AA’ WCAG 2.1 standards, using manual and automated tests.

We run each webpage through automated Wave, Lighthouse and Axe accessibility tools then manually test with screen readers (VoiceOver) and standards checklists.

These checklists contain standards that have been compiled using WCAG, NHS service manual and GDS guidance.
