Updates to August and September Drug Tariff

Pharmacy Quality Scheme

Pharmacy contractors should note for PQS 2020/21 Part 2, for the purposes of the Primary Care Network prevention domain and the Primary Care Network Business Continuity domain; where a PCN has disbanded and the pharmacy is no longer able to realign with another PCN, the pharmacy should collaboratively work with the other pharmacies in the disbanded PCN area as agreed with the NHS England & NHS Improvement regional team for that area.

Pharmacy contractors should note that the changes to the determination are not reflected in the published September 2020 Drug Tariff.

Medicines Delivery Service

Pharmacy contractors should note that the payment for essential pharmaceutical service – ensuring home delivery during the COVID-19 outbreak will continue until 30 September 2020 for pharmacy contractors which are located within the postcode areas specified in any announcement(s) made by NHS England and NHS Improvement in relation to this service (however, all pharmacy contractors must comply with the essential service if they receive a prescription for an eligible patient).

The payment for COVID-19 outbreak Advance Service will also continue throughout September 2020, however only as per announcement(s) made by NHS England and NHS Improvement (i.e. the service might be in place for only part of the month in certain locations). Any pharmacy, which chooses to provide the advance service and provides a delivery for a shielded patient living in the relevant area, can claim for the delivery, as long as, it is within the time period specified in the announcement(s) made by NHS England and NHS Improvement.

Pharmacy contactors should note that both services are only applicable to shielded patients living in the postcode areas as announced by NHS England and NHS Improvement.

Pharmacy contractors should note that the changes to the determination are not reflected in the published September 2020 Drug Tariff.
