COVID-19 vaccination payment for primary care providers

January activity data queries

We’re aware that some providers have raised questions about data discrepancies for January activity. We are continuing to work with partners to resolve this as a matter of urgency. We're sorry that we cannot provide a more specific update at this time. We will contact you as soon as we have more information.

In the meantime, you can find information on what to do if you believe your information is incorrect in our COVID-19 vaccination payment for Primary Care Networks article.

Primary care networks (PCNs), acting on behalf of a group of GPs and community pharmacies, can claim payment for administering the COVID-19 vaccination.

Payments are processed by NHSBSA, acting on behalf of NHS England and NHS Improvement (NHSEI). Primary care providers who meet the eligibility criteria will need to submit a claim via the Manage Your Service (MYS) portal. The process for submitting your claim will be different depending on whether you are a GP, PCN, or pharmacy contractor.

GPs and PCNs

GP practices will be grouped under a PCN.

Each PCN grouping will nominate a lead practice, who will submit and validate a monthly claim on behalf of the group via the MYS portal. Two representatives from this lead practice will be given access to the portal using their nhs.net login credentials. We will set this up for you and email you with information on how to log in.

The lead practice will also be responsible for receiving all payments for their PCN group and distributing payments to the other practices.

For more information about payment arrangements for PCN groupings, read the Process for the payment of Item of Service fees and Care Home Supplement payments on FutureNHS.

If you’re the lead practice, your NHSEI regional team will contact you and ask you to nominate your two representatives. We’ll then contact your representatives to give them log-in details for MYS.

Pharmacy contractors

NHSEI is encouraging community pharmacies to collaborate with their local PCN and support them to deliver maximum vaccine uptake.

NHSEI will commission a COVID-19 vaccination service directly from a community pharmacy where:

  • there is a local need (for example where there is a gap in service provision or need for additional capacity)

  • pharmacy contractors meet the key designation requirements

You should claim payment for this service each month via the MYS portal. Claims will show on payment schedules under the COVID Vaccine header.

For full details, including claim deadlines and payment dates, read the Community Pharmacy Local Enhanced Service – Coronavirus Vaccination document on NHSEI’s website
