Detailed information on Part VIII of the Drug Tariff.
Category M prices
The Department of Health (DH) has announced the Category M prices which will apply to prescriptions from 1 August 2017.
Category M reimbursement prices are being amended from 1 August 2017. This is outside the usual three monthly cycle, in which Category M reimbursement prices are updated because:
a) DH, with the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee’s agreement, is decreasing Category M reimbursement prices by £15 million per month. This is due to the results of the 2015/16 medicine margin survey and the provisional results of the 2016/17 medicine margin survey, which indicate an over-delivery on the £800 million per year medicine margin commitment for both 2015/16 and 2016/17. Once the full assessment of medicine margin for 2016/17 is available, this position will be reconsidered.
b) Pregabalin is being added to Category M.
