Evidence-based interventions

The evidence-based interventions programme has been developed to help make sure patients are not offered unnecessary treatment on the NHS.  Unnecessary treatments can cause harm to patients, and the programme aims to prevent this.

The programme will initially focus on 17 interventions:

  • 4 that should not be routinely offered to patients unless there are exceptional circumstances
  • 13 that should only be offered to patients when certain clinical criteria are met

This dashboard provides information about:

  • Baseline activity figures
  • Estimated activity reduction goals

The information is available to Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) and Sustainability and Transformation Partnerships (STPs).

Further information regarding the evidence-based interventions programme can be found on NHS England website
