Medicines Optimisation: Polypharmacy

As part of the efforts to address polypharmacy, Wessex Academic Health Science Network (AHSN) led a small working group consisting of members of North East and North Cumbria AHSN, NHSBSA, NHS Digital, local GPs, Pharmacists, prescribing analysts and clinical specialists in the development of prescribing comparators to help CCGs and GP Practices understand the variation in prescribing of multiple medicines and to help them to identify patients who are more likely to be exposed to the risks that can be associated with taking large numbers of medicines or certain combination of medicines.

Further information and resources linked to the programme of polypharmacy work carried out by Wessex AHSN can be found on the Wessex AHSN website http://wessexahsn.org.uk/projects/55/polypharmacy
