My NHS Pension lets you manage your NHS pension online. You can register for the service if you:
- currently pay into the NHS Pension Scheme
- have paid into the NHS Pension Scheme in the past but you no longer do so – for example, if you no longer work for the NHS or you’ve chosen to opt out
- are getting NHS pension benefits
- have a pension credit record from a divorce or dissolution of a civil partnership
- have an adult dependant's pension
You cannot currently register for My NHS Pension if you’re:
- a child dependant (opens in a new tab) of a member who has died
- acting on a member’s behalf, even if you have Power of Attorney
Sign in to My NHS Pension
When you sign in, you’ll need your username, password and a unique 2 factor authentication (2FA) code. You can choose to get this code by text message or through an app.
Registering for My NHS Pension
If you're registering for the first time, you'll need to enter your:
- National Insurance number
- 8 digit membership number (opens in a new tab) - you can find this on your Total Reward Statement (TRS), any letters from us that are personal to you, or your payslip if you use Electronic Staff Record (ESR)
- 2 unique registration codes - you can find these on any emails we’ve sent you with information about registering for My NHS Pension, or by contacting us
Features of My NHS Pension
The features that are available to you in My NHS Pension depend on what type of member you are.
If you have not claimed any of your NHS pension benefits yet, you can:
- access your Annual Benefit Statement (ABS)
- check your personal details
- access your earnings history and employment history
- add or change your contact details
- add, change or delete your nominations
If you’re currently getting NHS pension benefits, you can:
- access details of your pension benefits
- check your personal details
- access your monthly payslips and P60s
- add or change your contact details
- update your bank details
- add, change or delete your nominations
Making a nomination
Making a nomination (opens in a new tab) gives you a choice about what happens to your NHS Pension benefits after you die.
You can view, add, change or delete your nominations in My NHS Pension. To do this, you should:
- select Manage your pension from the main menu
- then select Nominations
